Symbols-On-Gantt® is an Add-On to Microsoft Project 2010 that enables you to emphasize key aspects of a certain project task, and will basically immediately put your attention to quickly understand which tasks are: the biggest, on the critical path, costing more than expected, slipping, with a good/bad % complete, flagged for special follow up, etc.

  • Need to install the Symbols-On-Gantt™ Software as well as the appropriate RanaTeckk®Symbol-Packk™ Software.
  • The Mapping Information is stored in the Project Plan.
  • To become really proficient – familiarity with Custom Fields (Formulas, Look-Up values) and Custom Views (Tables) is recommended.
  • Complex formulas can be fun, exciting, challenging & excruciatingly painful. If Boolean Algebra is not your friend, consider starting with one of the Examples.
  • BUT THE PAYOFF… you will be doing this once. And if you can create / use a template to start your project plans… it is truly only once.
  • Give yourself the gift of a couple quiet hours to go through this the first time.

As the various Examples are developed – the Example Project Plan(s) are updated – so it is a combination of the Examples’ Test-Tasks, Custom Fields and Calculations.
These Project Plans are available on the Download page for you to use as a starting-point.
Please note that there is an Example Project Plan specifically designed for those who are using the RanaTeckkStatusBasic Symbol-Packk™, and a separate Example Project Plan specifically designed for those who are using the RanaTeckkStatusFree Symbol-Packk™.

Install (and Un-Install) and first steps.

“How Big – are the different Tasks / Summary tasks (or different Projects) relative to each other“… and … “Detailed Instructions that are relevant to all Examples“
Easily find the most costly (and generally riskiest) Tasks.
Even if you decide not to implement Example 1 – you need to read through this Example.
This example provides the most insights and Tips into the “How to do this”.
This was done with the user in mind who will potentially implement multiple of these Examples – so all the Tips and insights and details are in only 1 Example – not in every Example.
The RanaTeckStatusBasic Symbol-Packk™ includes a “normal-sized $” and an “over-sized $” in addition to the “over-sized partial $”. The RanaTeckk StatusBASIC Example Calculations Project Plan uses the “over-sized $” and the “over-sized partial $”.

How Different is Baseline Work from Work… What we thought vs what we think now
Easily find Tasks that are taking more (cloud) / much-more (cloud with rain) / much-much-more (thunderstorm) Work than originally thought. They probably need attention.
Works with the RanaTeckkStatusFree Symbol-Packk™ (weather, faces, thumbs-up/down). If you have users that need print-outs – and you would like to use “stop-lights” – but color-copies are frowned on – try using the “Stop-lights” from the RanaTeckkStatusBasic Symbol-Packk™.

This Symbol-set works particularly well on the Gantt chart – on the Inside of the bar.
This Example is only in the RanaTeckk StatusBASIC Example Calculations Project Plansince the “gas-gauge” requires the RanaTeckkStatusBasic Symbol-Packk™.
