The Complete Risk and Decision Analysis Toolkit
The DecisionTools Suite is an integrated set of programs for risk analysis and decision making under uncertainty that runs in Microsoft Excel. The DecisionTools Suite includes @RISK for Monte Carlo simulation, PrecisionTree for decision trees, and TopRank for “what if” sensitivity analysis. In addition, the DecisionTools Suite comes with StatTools for statistical analysis and forecasting, NeuralTools for predictive neural networks, and Evolver and RISKOptimizer for optimization. All programs work together better than ever before, and all integrate completely with Microsoft Excel for ease of use and maximum flexibility.
Improvements for Project Management & More
New DecisionTools Suite version includes a wide range of improvements, including powerful new integration of @RISK with Microsoft Project that allows you to perform risk analysis and Monte Carlo simulation on your Microsoft Project schedules – all from the @RISK for Excel platform! @RISK also adds simulation of time series models, easier-to-understand tornado charts to identify risk drivers, better graphing options, improved distribution fitting, and new distribution functions. But there’s more to DecisionTools Suite 6.0 than just @RISK. PrecisionTree 6.0 adds powerful Bayesian revision and the ability to insert nodes anywhere in a tree. RISKOptimizer and Evolver 6.0 now include the OptQuest solving engine for even faster solutions on many types of models. RISKOptimizer, which has always shared functions with @RISK, is now even more tightly integrated with @RISK for seamless modeling. And StatTools and NeuralTools have added improvements to scatter plots and sensitivity analysis to the testing of neural nets.
@RISK for risk analysis using Monte Carlo simulation
@RISK performs risk analysis using Monte Carlo simulation to show you many possible outcomes in your Microsoft Excel spreadsheet—and tells you how likely they are to occur. This means you can judge which risks to take and which ones to avoid.
Greater Than the Sum of its Parts Each component of the DecisionTools Suite can perform a powerful analysis. When you combine these products, you can achieve more complete results than any single program can provide.
@RISK and TopRank The focus of an @RISK analysis can be narrowed using TopRank. Especially with large models, this saves time and improves accuracy of your @RISK analysis. @RISK functions can also be used by TopRank to represent a wider range of values than TopRank’s standard functions.
@RISK and PrecisionTree In addition, @RISK can be combined with PrecisionTree to represent uncertain chance events and payoffs in decision tree models. This enhances the accuracy of decision tree models by considering wider ranges of values for chance events instead of a few limited, discrete options.
@RISK then StatTools @RISK results can be run through a StatTools analysis to assess confidence intervals. @RISK can also be applied to results from a StatTools forecast to simulate possible outcomes with more precision.
PrecisionTree® for decision analysis with decision trees and influence diagrams
PrecisionTree performs decision analysis in Microsoft Excel using decision trees and influence diagrams. Decision trees let you visually map out complex, multi-layered decisions in a sequential, organized manner. This helps you identify all possible alternatives and choose the best option.
Greater Than the Sum of its Parts Each component of the DecisionTools Suite can perform a powerful analysis. When you combine these products, you can achieve more complete results than any single program can provide.
PrecisionTree and @RISK PrecisionTree represents chance events and payoffs with discrete values or probabilities. When combined with @RISK, @RISK enhances the analysis by representing continuous ranges of outcomes for chance events and payoffs.
PrecisionTree and TopRank PrecisionTree models can also be run with TopRank to identify the most critical factors in larger, more complex tree models.
TopRank® for automated “what if” sensitivity analysis
TopRank performs automated “what if” sensitivity analysis on Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. You can define any output or “bottom line” cell or cells, and TopRank will automatically find and vary all input cells which affect your output. The end result is identification and ranking of all input factors which affect your bottom line.
Greater Than the Sum of its Parts Each component of the DecisionTools Suite can perform a powerful analysis. When you combine these products, you can achieve more complete results than any single program can provide.
TopRank then @RISK TopRank is useful for narrowing down the focus of large models before performing a risk analysis with @RISK. Especially with large models, this saves time and improves accuracy of your @RISK analysis. In addition, TopRank can use @RISK to represent a wider range of values than TopRank’s standard functions.
TopRank and PrecisionTree TopRank can also be run with PrecisionTree models to identify the most critical factors in larger, more complex tree models.
NeuralTools® for predictive analysis using intelligent neural networks
NeuralTools performs predictions in Microsoft Excel using sophisticated neural networks. NeuralTools imitates brain functions to “learn” patterns in your known data, and uses those patterns to make predictions from new, incomplete data. In addition, NeuralTools can automatically update predictions live when input data changes, saving time and enabling more robust analyses.
Greater Than the Sum of its Parts Each component of the DecisionTools Suite can perform a powerful analysis. When you combine these products, you can achieve more complete results than any single program can provide.
NeuralTools and Evolver Combine NeuralTools with Evolver to optimize complex problems. Set Evolver’s target goal as the live predictive output for NeuralTools, and the cells for Evolver to adjust as the new inputs for NeuralTools. Then watch Evolver and NeuralTools work together to predict the optimal solution.
NeuralTools and RISKOptimizer You could even run NeuralTools in conjunction with RISKOptimizer, running Monte Carlo simulations on each trial solution and making live predictions of the results.
StatTools® for forecasting and advanced statistical analysis
StatTools performs forecasting and statistical analysis in Microsoft Excel. It actually replaces Excel’s built-in statistics functions with its own, more robust and accurate functions. StatTools covers the most common statistical analyses, and even allows you to build your own custom statistical procedures.
Greater Than the Sum of its Parts Each component of the DecisionTools Suite can perform a powerful analysis. When you combine these products, you can achieve more complete results than any single program can provide.
StatTools and @RISK then RISKOptimizer Combine StatTools with @RISK to assess confidence intervals on simulation results. You can also apply @RISK functions to StatTools forecast results to simulate possible outcomes with more precision than the deterministic analysis alone. Run RISKOptimizer on your model using the same @RISK functions in order to find the best combination of factors to maximize your forecasted profits.
Evolver™ for sophisticated optimization
Evolver performs optimization in Microsoft Excel using genetic algorithms, linear programming, or the OptQuest solving methods. It is equally suited to finding the best solution to linear problems large and small, or to finding the best overall global solution to nonlinear, complex problems where other solvers fail. Evolver constantly tries new, different solutions to arrive at the best answer possible.
Greater Than the Sum of its Parts Each component of the DecisionTools Suite can perform a powerful analysis. When you combine these products, you can achieve more complete results than any single program can provide.
Evolver then NeuralTools Combine Evolver with NeuralTools to optimize complex problems with live neural network prediction. Set Evolver’s target goal as the live predictive output for NeuralTools, and the cells for Evolver to adjust as the new inputs for NeuralTools. Then watch Evolver and NeuralTools work together to predict the optimal solution.
RISKOptimizer® combines optimization and Monte Carlo simulation for optimization under uncertainty
RISKOptimizer uses genetic algorithms or OptQuest methods, along with Monte Carlo simulation, to solve optimization problems under uncertainty. Take any optimization problem and replace uncertain values with @RISK functions that represent ranges of possible values. RISKOptimizer will try different combinations of adjustable cells to achieve the goal you define, while running Monte Carlo simulations on each trial solution to account for inherent uncertainty. The result is the most robust, accurate solution possible.
Greater Than the Sum of its Parts Each component of the DecisionTools Suite can perform a powerful analysis. When you combine these products, you can achieve more complete results than any single program can provide.
RISKOptimizer and @RISK Run RISKOptimizer on an existing @RISK model to maximize your profits, minimize your costs, or achieve a particular target. RISKOptimizer uses all the same functions as @RISK.
RISKOptimizer and StatTools You could run a RISKOptimizer analysis on the results from a StatTools forecast, applying @RISK functions to the forecasted values while adjusting controllable factors to maximize total profits.
RISKOptimizer and NeuralTools Even combine RISKOptimizer with NeuralTools to make live predictions on each trial solution.

Stand-alone Licenses
Stand-alone licenses are intended for use by one person on one computer. They may not be run from a server. Every stand-alone license comes with its own serial number and activation ID which unlocks the software for perpetual use. Software activation can be done with a single click over the Internet or manually via e-mail. Stand-alone licenses may be transferred from one computer to another once every 90 days, but may never be used one more than one computer at a time.

Concurrent Network Licenses
Concurrent network licenses are intended to serve multiple users from a network server. The software is installed on a single server, but may also be installed on an unlimited number of client computers. The restriction is placed on the number of users who can access the software at the same time, i.e., concurrently. Concurrent network licenses are a very cost-effective way to serve many people who need to use the software occasionally and “log off” when finished. Concurrent network licenses utilize FLEXnet technology and come with one serial number and activation ID, regardless of the number of users. Software activation is only required for the server license, not the client installations. Activation can be done with a single click over the Internet or manually via e-mail. The same installer may be used on all client computers, so scripting is very straightforward. In addition, concurrent network licenses support Terminal Services and Citrix environments. The server license may be transferred from one server to another once every 90 days, but may never be used on more than one server at a time.
Concurrent network licenses also allow “borrowing,” or temporarily taking one license off the network server and putting it on the client computer. This lets someone use the software even if their computer is disconnected from the server (e.g., taking a laptop on a trip). When a license is borrowed, an expiration date must be set by the user. At expiration, the license is automatically returned to the server license pool and ceases to function on the disconnected client.

Enterprise Activation Server
Enterprise Activation Server licenses use FLEXnet technology to allow you to grant and manage stand-alone licenses of Palisade software from your own server instead of the Palisade license server. Rather than requiring every stand-alone user to contact the Palisade license server to activate their software, each user would instead contact your own server once to activate. A single activation ID may be used for all license installations. You can expand the number of users on the license by purchasing additional users for the same server without having to use a new activation ID. If users wish to transfer licenses from one computer to another, the deactivation and reactivation of licenses can be managed on your local server as well. Enterprise Activation Servers are a great option for companies with strict firewall or security protocols, and make license management easy.

Corporate Licenses
The Most Cost-Effective Solution Palisade corporate licenses are purchasing options that enable you to get the most software for your money, deployed in the most efficient manner possible. Using the concurrent network or Enterprise Activation methods (though they may be customized however you wish) and are structured according to your organizational needs and volume.
Investing in a Palisade corporate license is the most cost-effective path to better decisions enterprise-wide. By switching from haphazardly purchasing individual copies to adopting a corporate license, many companies have found that the return on their software investment dramatically improved. Not only was their investment outlay reduced compared to buying individual copies, but widespread access to the software encouraged better decision-making throughout the organization. There are two kinds of Palisade corporate licenses:
Site Licenses – Provide software access to everyone at a particular physical location.
Enterprise Licenses – Provide access to the software throughout an organization or division regardless of physical location.
Benefits of corporate licenses include:
The latest software version - for everyone. With current maintenance, all users work with the same current version, and upgrades are handled on the same corporate level to maintain this consistency and avoid compatibility issues.
Encourages better decisions throughout the organization. Corporate licenses encourage experimentation with powerful Palisade software by all employees. The more people performing quantitative decision analysis, the better your decision will become.
Elimination of IT compliance issues. A corporate license relieves IT personnel of having to monitor software usage to ensure compliance with software license agreements.
Streamlined procurement process eliminates red tape. By procuring software through a single purchasing contract, you can avoid departmental budget constraints, differing purchasing procedures, and other administrative hurdles.
