Redaction is a daily process for organizations that manage classified, sensitive or private information.
Failures to redact can be costly, as many government agencies, corporations, law firms and others have learned to their chagrin – and cost.
Appligent invented and holds a patent on PDF redaction. “We originally released Redax®, the first software to redact PDF files, back in 1997. Redax completely redacts (removes) text and graphics from the PDF page. Hacking the file cannot reveal properly redacted information.”
Redax 5, released in March 2011, celebrates 14 years of leadership in electronic document security with a major update to the most reliable and capable redaction technology for PDF files. While Adobe includes basic redaction in Acrobat Professional, it’s not as full-featured or workflow-friendly as Redax, nor does Adobe offer a client-server redaction solution like Redax Enterprise Server.
Thousands of national, state and local government agencies, law firms, corporations and institutions world-wide protect sensitive information with Redax everyday.
Redax 5 requires an existing installation of Adobe Acrobat Standard or Professional 7, 8.1, 9 or X. Redax will NOT work with the free Adobe Reader.

"As a large government agency with a significant FOI obligation, we depend on Redax Enterprise Server to prepare requested documents for release."
- Janette R., FOI Administrator

"Redax Enterprise Server allowed us to completely reorganize how we do things. Now, we mark up documents when we get them, and just push buttons to release them to different audiences, with different redactions for each. It's an incredible time-saver, I've literally no idea how we'd work without it."
- Michael N., Systems Integrator

Basic Operation
Screen-shot of watched folders
The simplest way to run Redax Enterprise Server is through the watched folders functionality.
The RedaxESconfig application creates an XML parameter file used by Redax Enterprise Server to configure properties for the watched folders. These folders can be mapped network drives; providing "drag and drop" simplicity for any user.
Advanced Automation
Integrators may choose to dynamically generate XML parameter files from Perl, Java, PHP, VBScript, or any shell script, or operate Redax Enterprise Server via scripts for multistage or multicore processing.
See the User Guide for complete documentation.
